Shipping News
Washington, D.C. recently made an adjustment to its direct-to-consumer wine shipping law that benefits the industry and consumers. The volume limit has increased from 1 quart to 1 case per person per winery per month. Washington, D.C. consumers are now allowed to order up to 1 case of wine per month from any number of wineries.
Ohio has taken another step back. We had been under the assumption that Silverado could ship to Ohio, as the legislature had increased the production capacity for wineries. We applied for and received our Direct-To-Consumer permit.
As of September, we were informed that wineries with direct to consumer permit (S permit) also had to hold a new sales permit to sell to our distributor (S5 permit). Our broker holds that permit, making it unavailable for Silverado to have one. We regret the inconvenience.
