2010 - SOLO Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1968, Harry See planted the Silverado Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the next two decades with careful vine selection and cultivation, the Disney-Silverado Clone emerged becoming the only Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon designated as a “Heritage Clone”, by the University of California, Davis. Each year, we honor this select clone designation with SOLO.

SOLO Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage Notes Rainfall returned after three dry years, pushed bud break, flowering and fruit-set back by at least two weeks at the front end of the growing season. Due to the cloud cover, there was no frost damage in 2010. The summer brought cooler than normal temperatures, where constant vigilance and rigorous canopy management averted mildew or pest problems. The ten-day to two-week lag continued into a later than average veraison. A two-day heat spike into triple digits for the first time this season occurred in late August, with canopies thinned to adjust for the cooler season, grapes at various sites experienced some sunburn. Cooler than average temperatures returned again in early September, but gave way to warmer temperatures bringing good flavor and color development across the board. Tasting Notes Focused plum and cassis, herb and spice. Mid-palate texture that is lush and soft, finishing with firm tannins that through aging are starting to soften.
