2016 - Zinfandel

Our Zinfandel is a union of vineyard and varietal histories. Zinfandel was first planted in California in the mid-1800's, and our Soda Creek Ranch property in the 1880's. To honor this history, our Zinfandel vines are planted with bud wood from other historic Napa Valley vineyards and are head-trained. Soil and site limit the production of the vines. The resulting wines are deep ruby in color with aromas of freshly cracked pepper, wild berry patch and savory spices.

Vintage Notes The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness. Tasting Notes Enticing aromas of boysenberry and flavors of preserved strawberry and rhubarb followed by a touch of vanilla and licorice and cracked green peppercorn on the mid-palate.
