2018 - Mt. George Malbec

Winery exclusive.

Located east of Napa, our Mt George Vineyard is the site of one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the 19th century. The deep soils derived from volcanic shale and tufa yield Malbec with intense dark fruit aromas and a juicy, plush wine. The wine finishes with classic broad and rustic tannins.

Mt. George Malbec
Tasting Notes Intensely dark and inky with pronounced aromas of crushed raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Flavors of blackberry streusel and dried herbs such as fennel and bay leaf. This full-bodied wine has structured acidity, round tannins, and a long finish. Vintage Notes February saw abundant rains, with filtered light in spring and early summer. Bud break occurred late, but under ideal weather conditions, creating a plentiful, even fruit set. Summer brought generous sun and cooler marine influences, uninterrupted by major heat spikes. Extended fall sunshine and moderate heat allowed fruit to accumulate flavor complexity with gradual increases in sugar levels.
