2019 - Borreo Ranch Zinfandel

New Release.

Our Zinfandel is a union of vineyard and varietal histories. Zinfandel was first planted in California in the mid-1800's, and on our Borreo Ranch property in the 1880s. The site was purchased and restored by the Millers in 1992. To honor this history, our Zinfandel vines are planted with bud wood from other historic Napa Valley vineyards and are head-trained. Soil and site limit the production of the vines. The resulting wines are deep ruby in color with aromas of freshly cracked pepper, wild berry patch, and savory spices.

Behind the Label
The illustrations of these botanicals on the bottle were designed by artist and Walt Disney’s great-granddaughter, Annabelle Rey Miller – a fourth-generation winery owner.

Borreo Ranch Zinfandel
Tasting Notes Bramble, briar patch, and black peppercorn aromas translate to the palate with the addition of strawberry-rhubarb, raspberry, and blackberry. Clove and spice are intertwined, and herbal anise gives this full-bodied, powerful wine a fresh finish. Vintage Notes The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season, not without its moments of unpredictability, helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time teasing out great color, structure, and soft tannins. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture.
