2019 - Mt. George Cabernet Franc

New Release.

Located east of Napa, our Mt. George Vineyard in Coombsville is the site of one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the 19th century. It was purchased by the Miller family in 1988, with current plantings from 1989. The deep soils derived from volcanic shale and tufa yield Cabernet Franc with aromas of perfumed fruit and fresh herbs and an elegant palette of refined tannin.

Pair the Cabernet Franc with this Farro with Mushrooms and Squash recipe or Ratatouille

Cheese pairing suggestion: an earthy, herbal cheese, like Cypress Grove’s Truffle Tremor

Mt. George Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes Black raspberry, plum, and vanilla bean aromas intertwine with herbaceous notes of green tobacco, bay leaf, pine. Medium-full bodied with broad tannins. Rich, sweet plum, and fresh blackberry greet the palate with notes of cinnamon, clove, toasted graham, and sweet cedar. Vintage Notes The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season, not without its moments of unpredictability, helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time teasing out great color, structure, and soft tannins. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture.
