2019 - GEO Cabernet Sauvignon

New Release.

In 1988, Ron and Diane Miller, purchased the Mt George Vineyard, the site of the first vinifera plantings in the Coombsville AVA. Situated in a quiet corner of the Napa Valley a few miles east of the city of Napa, Mt George is a vineyard of undeniable strength. As the 20th anniversary of Silverado’s first Mt George harvest approached in 2012, the decision was made to make a wine for the occasion. It is called GEO – Greek for “Earth” and short for “George” – and it represents the highest expression of single-vineyard Cabernet from this extraordinary place.

GEO Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes Intense and well-knit flavors of black cherry pie, tea leaves, vanilla bean, molasses, cocoa, nutmeg, and toasted oak. Full-bodied with pronounced acidity and dense tannins give balance and structure to this broody Cabernet. Reviews 95 points James Suckling, 5/5/22 Vintage Notes The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season, not without its moments of unpredictability, helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time teasing out great color, structure, and soft tannins. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture.
